Temple de Debod

Today we went to the Templo de Debod. It is an Egyptian temple that was covered with water when the Aswan damn was built in the 1960s. A team of Spanish archeologists helped restore it and as thanks Egypt gave the temple to Spain. Now it resides near the Palacio Real in a large park with views across the river. It isn’t very big and only took us half an hour but it was very interesting. Along the inside walls are carved drawings and symbols. Outside there is a stone lined pond and a small park. After we finished looking at the temple we walked back to the house to get our books. On the way we stopped at a small local bakery and got a loaf of bread for Camille to eat. We then went to a café for a snack. We split a tortilla Española (an omelet with potatoes inside) and Croquettes (little fried balls with ham and potatoes inside). After class we returned home and had paella for dinner (Camille also had homemade ice cream sandwich).
