Thursday 6/3/10 Valencia

Today we tried to go to L’Albufera. After class we finished our homework and then dropped our books off at the house. Instead of having lunch at the house we brought a bag lunch. We got to the bus stop fifteen minutes early. When the bus came, after asking the driver, we learned that the bus didn’t go to the town that we wanted to go to. Later after looking at our maps we realized that it would have taken us within a mile of the town we wanted to go to. We then decided to try to walk to the L’Iber museum, which has over one million small lead soldiers. Along the way it started to pour. We walked under the awnings of buildings and look in some little stores. After we turned onto a larger street we realized that Camille, wearing flip-flops, didn’t get any traction on the polished marble sidewalks and couldn’t walk. We had to go by smaller streets that have sidewalks with better traction. Along the way we went into Zara Home, to get ideas for Camille’s dorm room next year. After we left, we continued on our way. Twenty minutes later, we realized that we had gotten turned around in the store and we were going in the complete opposite direction. After we found a bus stop with a bus that went close to where we thought the museum was. After we got to the address, we realized that we had gone to IVAM, a modern art museum, instead. We didn’t feel like seeing the museum after seeing the Museo Reina-Sofia in Madrid. We then started walking to the where L’iber actually was. Once we got there at 6:45, we learned that it closed at 7:00 instead of 8:00 as the guidebook said. We then walked to a plaza and got Horchata with Fartons (a type of bread with frosting that you dip into the drink). After walking around a little bit more we got Gelato and took the bus home.
